POVERTY: According to the U S. Census, approximately 80% of the working citizens in District 9 earned an estimated $30,492. About 20.1% of the population live below the poverty line. But, with the Child Support Program, Families First, (formerly AFDC), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and other government services, many citizens are penalized for working over their allotted dollar amount, thus many choose to live off government programs instead of working. They risk the loss of the steady government income if they work. Municipalities like Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, etc., keeps Shelby County from falling into the high risk poverty category. Cohen could do more to help economic growth, but he is content to keep a Band-Aid over the problem, without encouraging employment. David Kustoff is doing a decent job for his community. Cohen won't. Charlotte will.

UNEMPLOYMENT: As of March 2024, released data reported from the Department of Workforce Development, shows that Shelby County ranked among the highest unemployment rate in Tennessee. Of the 95 counties it ranked #88 at a rate of 4.0% compared to the county with the lowest rate of 2.2%. Cohen could be doing a better job.

ILLEGAL MIGRANTS. As of July 1, 2024, a new law went into effect requiring police to report Illegal immigrants to federal officials. Of the 20 million + Illegal immigrants that entered this country during the Biden/Harris administration, adding that total to the over 11 million that were here prior to that, plus the millions of got-aways, an exact count of illegals in Tennessee can not be ascertained at this time. Tennessee's poverty rate and crime rates are being affected exponentially due to this problem. When the illegals enter the U.S., they become a substantial drain on the federal budget. No one has an exact number of how many are here, but when we vote Donald J. Trump back in office in 2024, we will see a mass deportation of illegals in 2025.

CRIME RATE: Memphis is the most dangerous city in the United States per capital. As of May, 2024, it had a crime rate of 9,764 per 100,000 people, which is 317% higher than the national average.
